5 Tea's For Good Eyesight

Drinking tea is one of the best things that you can do for your health, as green tea, black tea, white tea, oolong tea, peppermint tea, and chamomile tea all offer benefits for your stomach, your circulatory system, your skin, and your heart. However, did you know that tea can also improve the health of your eyes?



1. Blueberry

This vitamin helps prevent night blindness and cataracts. A study published in the April 2011 issue of the "Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews" correlates a vitamin A deficiency with blindness triggered by measles, so consider adding bitter gourd to your diet if you have this disease to avoid eye problems.

4. Peppermint Tea
If you are suffering from dry, swollen eyes, soak two tea bags in hot water for several minutes. From here, place both of the two tea bags firmly on your closed eyelids for approximately 20 minutes. During the 20 minutes, the tannins found in the mint tea will interact with the skin around and on your eyelids, helping to reduce inflammation and pain in your eyes. While the teabags are on your eyes, try to stay in a reclined position to maintain pressure on your eyelids.

In addition to the effect of the actual mint teabags on your eyes, inhaling the steam from mint tea will also have healing effects on your sinuses and the skin surrounding your nose and eyes. Peppermint has a strong menthol aroma that can cause your eyes to water and sinuses to tingle. This effect on your eyes can be a cleansing experience, helping keep your eyes moist.
